“Agile Development” is an umbrella term for several iterative and incremental software development methodologies, including Extreme Programming (XP), Scrum, Kanban, Lean Development, and others. In this course, we’ll review the core values and common vision that each of these development methodologies share, review the Agile Manifesto and understand why so many companies are choosing to develop in this way. We’ll understand the most basic concepts of backlogs, and look at a few of the software packages that enable developers working with these methodologies. We will also take a quick look at Waterfall development and discuss some of the reasons that people choose each of these toolsets.
